Tyler Lustig and Brother Bo leads Belle Vernon Golf Team
There is a good chance Belle Vernon’s golf team will win most of its matches this season.
That’s because the Leopards have a dynamite one-two punch in the Lustig brothers.
Tyber Lustig is a senior left-hander and Bo is a junior right-hander. Although there is no sibling rivalry, they have common goals.
Both want to lead Belle Vernon to an undefeated regular season and to a WPIAL team title. Individually, they want to qualify for the PIAA tournament.
“Talent wise, they are probably two of the best in the WPIAL,” said Jay Lustig, Belle Vernon coach and father of the boys. “I just wish they would work at the game a little harder. I believe both can be even better players.”
The Lustig brothers are three-sport stars at Belle Vernon. Both play basketball and baseball, and Tyber even has a job that takes away from practice time.
Tyber Lustig said he plays golf because he’s good. He really doesn’t know what he wants to do in college.
“I really like to pitch,” he said. “I wish I was a little taller. You never know. I might end up playing golf in college. Maybe I’ll become a swing coach.”
Bo, an infielder and shooting guard, already knows golf is the path he wants to take. He wants to become a professional golfer.
“They can do what they want,” Jay Lustig said. “They have minds of their own.
“They’re good because they have talent. They practice very little.”
